Vivianite is naturally occurring pale blue earth pigment composed of ferrous phosphate. On a microscopic level,the particles appear to possess an indigo to greenish hue, which translates into a rich grayish blue on the painted surface. This pigment is compatible with all media and is especially suitable for such techniques as egg tempera and watercolor.
