Sinopia is proud to introduce our October 2011 Artist of the Month: Carol Rienecker.
Carol Rienecker was born in Brockton, Massachusetts and received a BA from Wellesley College. Carol draws on her background in math for inspiration, which has served as a launch pad into a continuous exploration
which integrates such elements as architecture, geometry, sculpture and paper-making into her creative process.
Carol has shown her oil paintings in numerous exhibitions around the San Francisco Bay Area. |

Artist's Statement:
My paintings physically start with bowls of leftover paint.
Let the exploring begin! Like improv theater or a jam session in jazz I don't know
where I'm going.
Colors are my primary tool. I handle & "make" colors by using a combination of
tube paints and paints mixed by hand from ground pigments and linseed oil.
Mathematics is part of my background training and geometry has always intrigued
me. Currently I am investigating lines as a major element.
What I hope to present to you, the viewer, is a painting that intrigues your eye,
stirs your emotions and perhaps your sense of fantasy and whimsicality.
Just remember: the color made me do it!
