PCP7 Sinopia Red Earth

Many years ago we were able to offer a pigment that possessed the qualities of the original Sinopia Pigment which was mined in the Turkish town of Sinopia on the coast of the Black Sea. We recently found a new source of a pigment which possesses the same qualities of the Sinopia color. This deep reddish brown pigment has a very high iron oxide content. This means that the pigment can be used in rendering in line drawings without multiple paint layers. This means that this pigment is perfect for applying the "Sinopia" underlayer of a fresco on a wall, before the actual fresco is painted. Since the preparatory drawing is applied to the wall, either by pouncing the pigment through a perforated sheet of wax paper or with a brush directly on to a prepared plaster, it is crucial that this pigment has a high opacity so that the outlines can be applied in one application.
