Organic Manufactured Pigments
Organic Manufactured Pigments are modern day versions of ancient dye based pigments. In the past, natural dyes were precipitated onto a marble dust particle, which yielded a pigment that was not stable or lightfast. These modern day replicas utilize synthetic dyes that are precipitated onto an Aluminum Hydroxide particle. All of these pigments are completely lighfast and stable in both fresco lime and cement. They have a very high tinting strength, but are usually very transparent, with the exception of the Marigold Orange and Chinese Vermilion Red. Since these pigments have a very small particle size, they do not integrate well into water. The particles are too light to sink into surface tension of water. Try adding 10% denatured alcohol or rubbing alcohol to the water, which will aid in dispersion of the pigments.
