Equestrian Leather Clay Bole
This particular shade of Bole is inspired by the color of the hides used in the manufacture of leather goods for English riding. In the dry state, the bole looks like new tan leather. Just as time burnishes a deep brown luster into the leather with years of use, this clay bole polishes into a rich reddish brown. Bole is a soft clay ground that needs to be used with such glues as rabbit or hide skin glue. The gold leaf is laid onto the surface and the pliable bole substrate is then burnished into a high luster.
