This is an unadulterated iron oxide pigment with no additives.

Iron Oxide Black does not contain any heavy metals and is therefore not considered toxic.

Q:
I have a patina recipe that calls for black iron oxide. ET318 Iron Oxide, Mars Black 318 seems to be what "black iron oxide" means. Is that a sound assumption?

Yes, that would be a safe assumption. We have quite a few customers who use our pigments in their patina recipes.
